At the Uzbek-American business forum held in Washington, 12 documents were signed in areas such as energy, mechanical engineering, ICT.
On September 15, on the eve of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to the United States of America, the Uzbek-American business forum was held in the capital Washington. It was attended by the heads of the main ministries and departments of the two countries, industrial associations, commercial banks and investment structures, as well as the heads of large US corporations operating in the fields of ICT, mechanical engineering, agriculture, light industry, transport, and banking.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Chairman of the Board of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lemm, President of the US EXIM Bank Reta Jo Lewis and Assistant Secretary of State the leader of Das Mark Pommersheim spoke.
During the forum, it was noted that the trade-economic and investment relations between Uzbekistan and the USA are developing at a rapid pace, and the political will of the leadership, and the constant cooperation between the governments and business circles play an important role in this.
It also presented the important achievements of Uzbekistan in the development of economy, trade, industry and improvement of the investment environment. In particular, among other facts, the creation of free market and healthy competition mechanisms, active support of entrepreneurship, development of infrastructure, provision of energy resources, reduction of state participation in the economy, and the beginning of large-scale privatization processes were noted.
In addition, at the forum, the most promising directions for the implementation of joint investment projects such as mining, chemistry and energy, textile industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and information technologies were determined. It was noted that there are great opportunities in the creation of joint ventures for the production of products with high added value and export to third countries.
During the event, separate sessions were held on the issues of global competition, supply chain stability, development of the business environment, innovation promotion, strategic forecasting, privatization, and financial and technical cooperation.
The work of the business forum continued with the meetings of the heads of the ministries, departments, industry associations and leading companies of Uzbekistan and the USA in "G2B" and "B2B" formats. The participants were able to thoroughly discuss the issues of establishing joint ventures and concluding mutually beneficial trade agreements.
At the end of the event, 12 documents were signed in the fields of energy, mechanical engineering, ICT, agriculture, financial-technical and scientific cooperation, production of medical and pharmaceutical products.
