1.5 million people die every year worldwide due to poor quality food
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), unsafe and unsafe food causes about 866 million illnesses and 1.5 million deaths each year.
The organization says that the vast majority of foodborne illnesses occur in young children. Children under the age of five are the most vulnerable group.
The report says that most of the deaths are caused by lead, methylmercury and other harmful chemicals in food. Experts recommend improving access to clean water and sanitation, strict adherence to food safety requirements and strengthening health services to reduce the risk.
