During Donald Trump’s second presidential term, the visas of more than 300,000 foreign nationals have been revoked. It is noted that the process of visa revocations has been ongoing since January 2025. As of August 10, 2026, the number of revoked visas stood at 175,000; in recent weeks, this figure has surpassed 300,000. US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the Trump administration has revoked more visas than previous administrations. He emphasized that strict measures are being taken against foreign nationals who have violated the law, committed fraud, or posed a threat to national security. Among those whose visas have been revoked are individuals who participated in protests against Israel’s attacks on Gaza, as well as those who expressed opinions on social media regarding the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Human rights advocates have criticized the measures taken in certain instances. Furthermore, in addition to deporting foreign protesters, the Trump administration has intensified the scrutiny of social media activity among migrants and visa applicants. During his 2024 election campaign, Trump promised to combat illegal immigration. However, his administration is also tightening procedures for legal immigration. Notably, higher fees have been introduced for certain types of work visas.
