Amidst mass protests and looting in France, curfews are expected to be imposed in some cities. Meanwhile, the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris has temporarily closed its doors to visitors due to a strike by staff.

On October 19 of this year, the French government instructed local authorities to take measures to implement curfews in areas experiencing unrest. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu indicated that these restrictions could be applied in certain regions.

For context, protests have been ongoing in France since the end of September. Some of these demonstrations have resulted in clashes with the police and the use of tear gas. It has also been reported that more than 2,000 people have been detained across the country during protests against the rising cost of living. Business owners and municipal administrations have also reported suffering losses as a result of the unrest.
