Turkmen scientists proposed using wormwood extract in the medical industry
Scientists at the Technology Center at the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan were able to obtain a lyophilized dry extract of wormwood, or rather one of its types - tsitvar. Researcher, postgraduate student at the Laboratory of Biotechnology of the CT ANT Berdy Berdyev, identified the special properties of the substance, which is highly effective and environmentally friendly, ORIENT reported.
But the most important thing is that the extract can be widely used in the production of medications in the pharmaceutical industry. The extraction of the tsitvar extract itself took place using modern biotechnological equipment.
To obtain the extract, we used Kopetdag wormwood, where 11 of its species grow out of 32 known in Turkmenistan. It is noted that only 4 of them are endemic, that is, they grow compactly in a certain area and have specific properties. As the scientists emphasized, mainly these characteristics are accurately described in the multi-volume “Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan” by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Professor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The resulting extract has unique healing properties and can be used in the treatment of infectious and non-infectious diseases, lung diseases and the prevention of tumors in them. It also effectively copes with microbes and can be used as an insecticide, that is, a substance against insects. In addition, the extract can act as an antioxidant and prevent dangerous chain reactions in the body. Its antimalarial qualities deserve special attention.
Lyophilized dry extract of wormwood from Kopetdag has every chance of being included in the production process of the Turkmen medical industry, being one of the promising developments. Taking into account the fact that the attention of the scientific and medical community of Turkmenistan is focused on the use of drugs from local raw materials, the new product of scientists meets the demands of state policy for the implementation of the “Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country in 2022–2028”.
