Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstanis on Abay Day

August 10 marks the 178th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abay Kunanbayev. Today, Abai Day is celebrated in Kazakhstan. President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on Twitter.

"I congratulate everyone on Abay Day! The great poet made a huge contribution to the spiritual development of the nation. His precepts serve as a moral guide for the younger generation. The concept of "Adal azamat" is closely related to his concept of "The Perfect Man". Our duty is to honor the priceless heritage of Abai", Tokaev wrote.

Keep in mind that this holiday will start in 2020. August 10 was officially declared the Day of Abai. Although the date is included in the official list of holidays, it is not a day off. Today, creative meetings and competitions of readers are held in the regions of Kazakhstan, the legacy of the great poet is being spread.
