The State Security Service will no longer be responsible for the security of Nazarbayev, the president signed a decree
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed amendments to the decree "On approval of the regulations on the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the agency's correspondent reports. According to the main provisions of the decree, the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a special state body directly subordinate and accountable to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, belonging to the national security forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and carrying out security measures to ensure the security of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other protected persons and objects within the competence established by legislation. In the previous version of the decree, the duty of the service also included ensuring the security of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Amendments to the decree on state protection were introduced in connection with the abolition of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy". Earlier, Kazakhstan abolished the criminal penalty for publicly insulting Elbasy.
