In the first half of the year, 189.5 thousand children were born in Kazakhstan, 98 thousand of them were boys, 91.5 thousand were girls.
The population as of July 1 was 19,899,377 people, of which 12,317,671 were urban dwellers, 7,581,706 were rural residents, 48.8% were men, 51.2% were women, the press service of the Bureau of National Statistics reports. In the first half of the year, 189.5 thousand children were born in Kazakhstan, 98 thousand of them were boys, 91.5 thousand were girls. The birth rate was 19.20 births per 1000 people. The highest birth rates were recorded in Mangystau (25.97 people per 1000 population), Turkestan (25.46) regions and Shymkent (24.70). The number of deaths during the specified period amounted to 63.6 thousand people, while the mortality rate per 1000 people was 6.44. The natural population growth for six months amounted to 125.9 thousand people. The highest mortality rate is observed in East Kazakhstan (11.07 per 1000 population), North Kazakhstan (11.06) and Kostanay regions (10.04), which is associated with the age structure of the population of these regions. For 6 months under the age of 1 year, 1,454 infants died, the infant mortality rate per 1,000 births was 7.67. As of July 1, 53.8 thousand marriages were registered in the country. The marriage rate was 5.46 per 1000 people. Also during this period, 8.1 thousand divorces were registered (according to the RAGS bodies, without taking into account court decisions on divorce). The divorce rate was 0.83 per 1000 people. The number of people moving within the country increased by 5.8%. According to interregional movements, a positive balance of population migration has developed in three regions of the country: Astana (16,044 people), Almaty (15,611 people) and Shymkent (1,049 people). In January-June 2023, the number of arrivals in the country amounted to 13,652 people, the number of departures from the country was 6,996 people. The migration balance was 6,656 people. Compared to the corresponding period of 2022, the number of arrivals in Kazakhstan increased by 87.3%, the number of departures from Kazakhstan decreased by 56.7%. The main migration exchange of the country takes place with the CIS countries. The share of arrivals from CIS countries was 89.1%, the share of departures to these countries was 75.4%.
