The 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev and Victory Day were celebrated in Houston
An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev and November 8 - Victory Day was held in the city of Houston, Texas.
The ceremony, organized by the American-Azerbaijani Center for Integration (USACI) with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, was attended by representatives of the local public, communities friendly to our country and our compatriots.
At the event, which began with the performance of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and the United States, a minute of silence was observed in honor of the blessed memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of the country.
Opening the ceremony, moderated by Gunel Agasoy, with an opening speech, the head of UCASI, member of the board of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in America, Samir Novruzov, congratulated his compatriots on the unique holiday of our people - Victory Day. He noted that the outstanding political and statesman Heydar Aliyev, despite all the difficulties of that time, had exceptional merits in integrating our country into the world community.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Elshad Aliyev, greeting the ceremony participants, congratulated our compatriots living in the state of Texas on Victory Day, National Flag Day of Azerbaijan and the complete restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. Stressing that this year a series of events are being held in various countries of the world, including the United States, within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”, the Deputy Chairman spoke about the invaluable services of the great leader to our homeland, and recalled that the valiant Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev made his deepest dream come true.
