Tajikistan reduced external debt
In the period from January to September 2023, Tajikistan fulfilled part of its obligations to pay off external public debt
Tajikistan has paid more than $212 million as part of the timely servicing of the republic’s external debt.
This was announced by the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kakhkhorzoda during a meeting in parliament.
In particular, he stated that $139 million was allocated to pay off the principal debt, while interest amounted to more than $73 million.
It is clarified that these state obligations regarding external borrowings of the republic were fulfilled in 9 months.
Meanwhile, payments on domestic public debt, including securities and treasury bills, during the same period amounted to almost 604 million somoni.
Of these, 568 million are the principal amount, interest on the loan is 37 million somoni.

The Minister of Finance of Tajikistan recently stated that the republic's public debt is at a safe level.
It was previously reported that in 2023 Tajikistan expects to service its external debt in the amount of 2.35 billion somoni. Most of this amount, namely 1.35 billion somoni, will be paid from the republican budget.
