SF coordinators to provide legal assistance to citizens will operate in each district in Kyrgyzstan
Coordinators of the Legal Aid Service (LAS) under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic will operate in each district to provide legal assistance to citizens, the press service of the department reported.
In order to realize the rights of individuals to access to justice, ensure a fair trial and create a more effective, fair, accountable and based on the rule of law and protection of fundamental human rights, on August 10, 2022, the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On State Guaranteed Legal Aid” was adopted in a new edition.
In this connection, in order to bring legal acts in the field of state-guaranteed legal assistance in accordance with the newly adopted Law "On State Guaranteed Legal Aid", as well as in order to improve the quality of the provision of legal advice by state bodies, local governments and their subordinate institutions developed and adopted a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic “On approval of the Procedure for interaction between subjects of the system of state-guaranteed legal assistance and the List of documents confirming the right of a person to receive qualified legal assistance” dated May 4, 2023.
To date, according to the new Law, the mechanism for providing legal advice and assistance has also been fixed, that is, to provide qualified legal assistance, as well as legal advice, regional structural territorial divisions of the Legal Aid Service under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by coordinators at the district level in the republic, have been established.
Thus, the process of interaction between the subjects of the state-guaranteed legal aid system will be coordinated by district coordinators.
In this regard, in order to implement this resolution throughout the country, explanatory work was carried out for representatives of state bodies and local governments.
