New migration strategy presented in Tajikistan

The Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan has presented a strategy for regulating migration processes in the country for the period up to 2040. The concept presentation ceremony took place at a round table with the participation of the relevant bodies of Tajikistan. According to a Sputnik Tajikistan correspondent, the strategy was adopted by the country's government on June 30 this year. The Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan Gulnora Khasanzoda during the presentation stated that the purpose of adopting this document is to regulate the migration process in Tajikistan and it covers all areas of internal and external migration.

"Much attention will be paid to the vocational training of migrants in Tajikistan itself and organizational recruitment, since the main barrier to employment in far-abroad countries for citizens of Tajikistan is lack of knowledge of languages, and for this, courses in English, Korean, and Japanese are opened in adult education centers," the minister said.

A Social Fund to support labor migrants and members of their families will also be created. It is noted that the policy in this area will be implemented in 6 stages and for the first time within the framework of one document will regulate all aspects of population migration, namely labor, external, internal, environmental and refugees. Thus, by 2040, the current regulatory legal acts in the direction of population migration should be analyzed and amendments and additions made to them. At the same time, a mechanism for electronic recording of the migration process at the level of the regions of the republic will be developed and implemented, and a public council will be created in the Migration Service with the participation of state authorities, international and non-governmental organizations. When will a branch of the Moscow migration center be opened in Khatlon? Another important goal of the strategy is to improve the process of sending labor migrants. According to official information, Tajik labor migrants currently work under bilateral agreements in 8 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
