Kazakhstan sent $1 million in humanitarian aid to Palestine
Kazakhstan provided humanitarian aid to Palestine in the amount of $1 million. Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aibek Smadiyarov spoke about this at a briefing.
He noted that the conflict between Israel and Palestine has caused a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. In this connection, Kazakhstan also decided to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
“This decision was announced by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the UTC summit. The funds allocated by the government of Kazakhstan have already been transferred to the UN Near East Agency to assist Palestinian refugees and organize work,” Smadiyarov said.
This agency has been operating since 1949.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States, noted that the main task today is to ensure the safety of civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially children and the elderly.
Today, the decision to provide humanitarian and material assistance to those affected in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of the Jordan River has been made by countries in the West, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. In particular, the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the USA, the European Union, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Russia, China, Turkey and many others.
According to the latest data, about 10 thousand people were killed in the Gaza Strip, and over 20 thousand were injured.
Two thirds of the victims are women and children. According to the UN Near East Agency, the population of the Gaza Strip is in a critical situation and more than two million people need food assistance.
