Kazakhstan has returned assets worth $2 billion in 2 years - Antikor
ASTANA, September 11 - Sputnik. Kazakhstan has returned assets worth $2 billion in 2 years, the Anti-Corruption Service reports.
Previously, the Ministry of Justice reported that in total assets worth $160 billion were withdrawn from Kazakhstan.
A meeting of law enforcement practitioners was held in Kazakhstan to exchange experience and strengthen the international fight against corruption.
“Kazakhstan presented its experience in asset recovery. Over the past 2 years, assets and funds worth about $2 billion have been returned to the state,” Antikor said in a statement.
Kazakhstan has adopted a separate law on asset recovery. It applies to people who have assets exceeding the threshold of 13 million MCI (44 billion 850 million tenge, or about $96 million).
It was previously reported that Kazakhstan intends to create a company to manage returned assets; a draft government resolution appeared on the Open Legal and Legal Entities portal.
