Ismailov met with family members of miners who died at the Kazakhstanskaya mine
Karaganda. August 19. KAZAKHSTAN TODAY - Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with family members of miners who died as a result of the accident at the Kazakhstanskaya mine of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC in the Karaganda region, and visited injured miners in the hospital, the press service of the head of government reports.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed sincere condolences to the families of the deceased miners.
We share your grief and the severity of the loss," Alikhan Smailov said.
He noted that on behalf of the head of state, a special commission has been created that investigates in detail the causes of the accident at the mine.
All responsible persons will be punished accordingly. There was a similar situation last year. Then the management promised to take all necessary measures and ensure labor safety, to invest. But, as we can see, tragedies continue, funds are not allocated in the right amount. Therefore, now the question is what will happen to the owner of this company. The investigation into past tragedies is also at the completion stage. It is expected that in September the materials will be handed over to the court and the perpetrators, including the top management of the company, will be brought to justice. Undoubtedly, we will bring this to an end," the Prime Minister stressed.
During the meeting, it was noted that all the families of the victims will be provided with the necessary support from the state and the employer.
In particular, the survivor's allowance from the republican budget and the social payment from the State Social Insurance Fund.
At the same time, the employer will pay the families of the deceased a one-time compensation for moral damage in the amount of 10 times the annual salary and reimburse the costs of burial and memorial events.
In case of lack of housing, an apartment in the Karaganda region will be provided, as well as free education of children in a higher educational institution will be provided.
In addition, the company will take measures to employ family members and repay mortgage loans.
It is indicated that the fulfillment of all these obligations will continue even with the change of the owner of JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau.
As the Prime Minister noted, at present the environmental audit and industrial safety audit with the involvement of international companies are being completed at ArcelorMittal Temirtau.
Their completion is expected during September, as a result of which appropriate decisions will be made. During the meeting, the issue of lowering the retirement age for miners was raised.
Alikhan Smailov said that legislative changes are being made that will allow miners to retire earlier - at 55.
The Prime Minister also visited the injured miners at the Multidisciplinary Hospital named after Professor H. J. Makazhanov in Karaganda.
It was noted that the company will pay the miners a sick leave in the amount of 100% of the average salary, medicines, spa treatment will be provided and moral damage will be compensated.
Recall that as a result of a fire at the mine, 13 people were injured. 11 of them currently remain in hospitals. The Prime Minister demanded that the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Ecology promptly complete the industrial and environmental audits conducted at ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC in order to make an appropriate decision. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the fire.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government and Akimat of the Karaganda region to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the causes of the accident and provide all necessary assistance to the victims.
Meanwhile, Kazakh deputies made harsh statements to the leadership of ArcelorMittal Temirtau.
According to the deputies, the tragedy "is a direct consequence of the condition of the equipment in the coal mines, as well as the thoughtless reduction of production personnel." The Federation of Trade Unions made a statement in connection with the fire at the AMT mine.
