Aliyev and Putin noted the growing potential of the North-South transport corridor

The parties positively assessed the increase in cargo transportation volumes along the North-South route, both by rail and road.
The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, during an expanded meeting on Thursday in Bishkek, expressed satisfaction with the development of the North-South transport corridor and the growth of its potential, AzerTaj reports.
The parties also positively assessed the increase in cargo transportation volumes along the North-South route, both by rail and road.
The leaders noted an increase in trade turnover. The issue of interregional cooperation was raised, it was noted that Azerbaijan successfully cooperates with 70 regions of the Russian Federation. In this context, it was emphasized that regularly held interregional forums are an important platform.
Aliyev and Putin also outlined in the conversation the successful development of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere; from this point of view, the concern in Azerbaijan for the Russian language and the teaching of the Russian language in many higher and secondary educational institutions were noted.
In addition, the importance of expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector was touched upon.
The importance of the activities of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia was noted at the meeting.

Azerbaijani President Ilham discussed the situation around Karabakh and issues on the bilateral agenda with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Bishkek on Thursday, AzerTAc reports.
“Of course, issue number one is the situation around Karabakh, what can we say directly. We have another agenda, it is quite extensive,” Putin emphasized, opening the meeting.
He proposed discussing bilateral relations within the delegations, and then discussing the whole range of “sensitive issues” face-to-face.
In turn, Aliyev emphasized that the results of interaction this year are impressive both in terms of trade turnover and industrial cooperation. In addition, he continued, there are a lot of new projects on cooperation in the transport sector.

A meeting of the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, is taking place in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.
The parties will discuss the North-South transport corridor project, as well as the situation around Karabakh, including the activities and prospects for the further presence of Russian peacekeepers in this Azerbaijani region.
It should be noted that the leaders of the two countries arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the CIS Summit.
The meeting of the heads of state of the Commonwealth will take place on October 13 in Bishkek.
The event will be attended by the presidents of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The heads of state will first communicate in a limited format, then members of delegations will join the negotiations.
