58% more oil transported through Aktau port in 2023 than in the past - KTZ
ASTANA, Sep 5 - Sputnik. Over 2.6 million tons of dry and oil cargo were transshipped through the Aktau Commercial Sea Port in 7 months of 2023, which is 24% higher than the same period last year, the national company "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" reported.
"The port handled 142,000 tons of grain, 114,000 tons of metal, over 13,000 containers," the company said.
In addition, oil transshipment increased by 58% compared to 2022 - up to 2.1 million tons - due to the reorientation of Kazakh oil exports to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route. Also, the transportation of metal increased by 87% due to the growth in exports of non-ferrous metals through the port of Aktau.
