In the Russian city of Sterlitamak, doctors removed a set of five gold dental prostheses from a man's bronchus.
The man had been suffering from a persistent cough, which he attributed to a cold or simply to aging. When his condition worsened, he sought medical attention. An examination revealed that a dental prosthesis had entered his airway and become lodged in his bronchus.
It turned out that the man had swallowed the prosthesis about two years earlier while asleep, without even realizing it.
Surgeons successfully removed the object. The patient is now doing well, and his life is not in danger.
