The Taliban government’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice has issued a new decree. According to the decision, the use of fireworks and pyrotechnic devices at weddings and other celebratory events in Afghanistan is now completely prohibited.

The Ministry stated that fireworks cause fear, anxiety, and psychological stress among the public. Consequently, the use of pyrotechnics has been banned to ensure public safety and maintain social order.

Furthermore, the decree stipulates that celebratory events must be conducted in accordance with Islamic standards and Sharia law; actions that might incite panic—particularly among children, women, and the elderly—are strictly forbidden. The ban applies not only to those who use pyrotechnic devices but also to those who sell, import, manufacture, or supply them within the country.

It has been announced that those who violate these rules will face penalties based on both the law and Sharia. However, the specific nature of these penalties has not been disclosed.
