An accident occurred at the construction site of the Rogun HPP in Tajikistan.

An accident occurred on October 21 at the construction site of the Rogun Hydropower Plant in Tajikistan. Witnesses report that several workers were trapped under soil and sustained injuries; however, officials have stated that no one was harmed.
According to the publication Asia-Plus, the incident took place during cementation work in a construction tunnel. A technical water reservoir ruptured, causing water to flow toward the workers inside the tunnel.
The relevant state authority in Tajikistan announced that a working group has been established to investigate the incident. Specialists are currently assessing the technical condition of the reservoirs and compliance with construction safety requirements.
Accidents have occurred at the Rogun Hydropower Plant construction site in the past as well. In November 2024, an accident resulted in the deaths of three workers and left another injured.
