Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with filmmakers at the "Uzbekfilm" studio, where he emphasized the need to improve the quality of national films.
According to the President, people have not stopped going to cinemas; rather, their tastes and demands have evolved. This is evidenced by the fact that theaters screening foreign films are well-attended.

The Head of State noted that the system for distributing national films to audiences is not well-organized, the opinions of professional film critics are not sufficiently taken into account, and there are issues within the financing system for film projects.

It was reported that over the last decade, two decrees and eight resolutions have been adopted to support the film industry. While 10 billion soums were allocated from the state budget for film production in 2016, this figure has reached 218 billion soums this year.

Furthermore, it was noted that assigning too many projects simultaneously to certain directors and authors hinders the ability to work thoroughly on individual films. The President stressed the necessity of creating fair competitive conditions for filmmakers and placing a greater focus on the production of high-quality films.
