Shavkat Mirziyoyev has issued instructions to establish "New Qarshi" city—designed to accommodate 500,000 residents—on a 5,000-hectare site in the Kashkadarya region.
According to the Head of State, New Qarshi will be constructed at the junction of the city of Qarshi, the Kokdala district, and the Qarshi district. The project includes the development of multi-story residential buildings, as well as commercial and business centers, with plans to develop the area based on "green" and "smart" city principles. An initial allocation of 20 billion soums will be provided for the development of the master plan.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the enhancement of the region's tourism potential. Since the beginning of the year, 2.5 million tourists have visited Kashkadarya, with a target set to attract 6 million tourists annually. A plan to develop tourism in the villages of Gelon, Taragay, Bashir, Tatar, Sayyod, and Suvtushar is to be drafted within one month. Projects with a total value of 50 million dollars are slated for implementation in these areas, beginning March 1st.
