On the evening of October 19, power supply was interrupted in parts of the Yunusobod, Olmazor, Mirzo Ulug‘bek, and Shayxontohur districts of Tashkent.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the incident was caused by a balloon drifting into the open switchyard of the "Aksa Tashkent" thermal power plant in the Qibray district. This triggered the plant's protection system, resulting in a drop in power output from 460 MW to 185 MW.
Following prompt remedial action, electricity supply was fully restored by 19:38. The Ministry also released a video of the incident and urged citizens not to release balloons near electrical infrastructure.
