The number of countries cooperating with Uzbekistan in the field of organized labor migration has increased from 3 to 27. This was announced during a meeting on labor migration chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan's approach to organized labor migration has changed significantly in recent years. Cooperation with foreign countries has expanded, while the number of major foreign employers working with Uzbekistan has increased by nearly 400.
The President also highlighted changes in the global labor market. Currently, 168 million people worldwide are international migrant workers. While many Uzbek citizens are interested in working abroad, foreign countries continue to face high demand for labor. Connecting these opportunities was identified as one of the main tasks for relevant officials and regional authorities.
In addition, the number of Uzbek citizens working abroad has halved over the past decade, while the amount of money they send to their families has increased fourfold.
According to the President, this reflects a changing attitude toward Uzbek specialists in the international labor market, with citizens increasingly going abroad as skilled professionals rather than unskilled workers.
“People should master their profession, recognize their own worth, and be able to rely on their homeland!” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
