Iranian state television has broadcast special instructions for citizens on how to act in the event of a nuclear strike on the country, Al Arabiya reports.
The guidelines advise the public not to look at the intense flash, to enter the nearest building once the shockwave has passed, and to stay away from windows and exterior walls. It is also recommended to wash any exposed skin with soap and water, consume only packaged food and bottled water, and remain in a shelter for at least 24 hours.
These instructions were issued against the backdrop of claims that the United States might launch a nuclear strike against Iran. American journalist Tucker Carlson alleged that U.S. President Donald Trump could carry out such a strike under pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
However, Carlson did not provide any public evidence to support this claim. Neither U.S. nor Israeli officials have confirmed that any such nuclear strike is being planned.
