On October 29, a fistfight broke out in the National Assembly of Armenia between deputies from the ruling "Civil Contract" party and the opposition "Strong Armenia" faction. The altercation forced a suspension of the parliamentary session.
The conflict began during a discussion regarding a candidate for membership in the Audit Chamber. Taron Chakhoyan, a deputy from the ruling party, criticized the family of opposition leader Narek Karapetyan. The argument subsequently escalated into a physical altercation, in which other deputies also became involved.
Security personnel were called in to break up the fight. According to Armenian media, several deputies sustained injuries during the incident.
