Two individuals involved in the production and circulation of counterfeit currency have been apprehended in the city of Angren. An operational action, conducted jointly by the Tashkent Regional Department of the State Security Service and the Regional Internal Affairs Directorate, revealed that the suspects had been manufacturing fake 100,000 and 200,000 soum banknotes.

According to reports, a resident of Angren (born in 1993) conspired with an acquaintance (born in 1997) to rent an apartment in a multi-story building, where they established a counterfeit currency production operation.

During the operation, authorities seized semi-finished counterfeit banknotes totaling 79.8 million soums, a color printer, printer ink, and various stationery supplies as physical evidence. It was also noted that both individuals have prior criminal convictions.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 176, Part 2, Clause "v" of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is currently underway.
