During construction work on the site of the former champagne winery in Tashkent, a wall collapsed, damaging several tombstones in the Botkin Cemetery.
An investigation by the capital’s administration confirmed that the graves themselves were not opened. The individuals responsible for the violations have been identified, and construction work has been halted.
The client and the contractor have been instructed to restore the damaged tombstones and address the consequences of the wall collapse. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week. Those responsible will be held legally accountable.
