Navruz Park artisans complain about rising rents, seek help for national heritage
More than 150 artisans and hundreds of their employees working in Tashkent's Navruz Park are at risk of losing their jobs. This could lead to the disappearance of unique traditions of handicraft art.
According to their appeal, rent has doubled since January 1 of this year. The activity of handicraft workshops is seasonal, which makes it difficult to draw up a sustainable financial plan. However, rent must be paid monthly, and the increase in prices has put them in a difficult situation.
"We artisans work not only to earn an income, but also to preserve our national heritage and pass it on to future generations," the petitioners say.
