Diamond battery that lasts 5,700 years created
A team of scientists and engineers in the UK has developed the world's first carbon-14 diamond battery, capable of delivering micro-energy for thousands of years. The battery is based on the isotope Carbon-14 and diamond, which does not discharge, and can release energy for up to 6,000 years. It can withstand any conditions, including heat, cold and space.
The battery uses the radioactive isotope Carbon-14 to produce small amounts of electricity through radioactive decay. With a half-life of 5,700 years, the isotope can power low-wattage devices almost indefinitely.
